Extreme Makeover
This Greek Revival style home was transformed over period of 7 years, in multiple phases, from a Tudor themed 1970's colonial. Inspiration for the design was drawn from simple rural Dutchess County Greek Revival farmhouses. View of the south side from the great lawn.

Before the renovation this master bedroom was full of underutilized space; now the bed, nightstand and dresser all fit well in the main bedroom space. His and hers walk-in closets flank the main bedroom space on one side and on the other a bookcase lined reading area and master bathroom. One of the owners commented that he and his wife really like the new closet layout; before the renovation the closets opened directly into the main bedroom space.

Elegance, grandeur, and creative
detailing define this Arts and Crafts style home. The plan is angled creating an auto court on the entry side and a curved porch on the opposite side overlooking the lake. The interior features a two story Living/Dining Room, timber trusses with wrought iron connecting hardware, and a stair tower leading to a curved balcony.

A remarkable basement renovation
reminds one of what can be done with an unfinished basement. This renovation includes a new family room, sitting and game areas, billiards room, full bathroom, and a sizable wine cellar and a home gym. All the spaces were treated with a fine level of detail with traditional architectural moldings and cove lighting.

Carefully Arranged
The plan of this home is carefully arranged to capture views of Woodlands, meadow, and pond. Shingle style architecture, a popular turn of the century style for eastern seaboard beach homes, has been adapted to this country setting. This impressive residence, with it's natural exterior finishes, is married to it's surroundings; The stone foundations, stone chimney and wood shingle siding work well with the pond, boulders and forest backdrop. A view as one approaches the residence, from which the pond-side Sunroom, Entry and attached garage can be seen, all with the appropriate proportions, exterior finishes, colors and architectural details.

Tasteful and Charming
The trick here was to expand and update this charming old salt box without ruining its cottage like charm. The old kitchen addition was replaced with a new larger addition with a convered terrace. The back hall was reconfigured to include a wet bar and powder room. The living and dining rooms were remodeled and a new front portico, that looks like it's always been there, was added.

The Large House
To be successful, the large house must have more than size and amenities. It must have proper proportion, details that capture the beauty and grace of its style, a logical comfortable flow between rooms, and a hierarchy of massing and details to bring the parts together into a cohesive composition.

The front of this waterfront home faces the Hudson River, but its standard cape layout did not take full advantage of the spectacular view. The front was boldly removed altogether to add a year-round sun space. An appropriate entry was created on the approach side of the home and a first floor Master Suite was added.

The Owners on their Architect

Spectacular Views
This new deck extends the interior living space outdoors, in to the tree tops, and takes advantage of a spectacular view of the Hudson River.

After a few years of seasonal rental,
the owners decided to purchase this A-frame vacation home. When the time came for them to move here permanently, they needed to winterize and expand the home. The solution was to add low pitch gabled additions to each side which complement and accentuate the steep pitch of the A-frame. One of the side wings houses a garage, mechanical room, and formal entry. The opposite wing has a pantry, a butler's pantry, a dining area, and a library/study.

The four main bath elements –
entry, vanity, tub, and shower/water closet area are arranged each on one side of the light shaft.A symmetrical, flared skylight shaft is used to organize this classically inspired Master Bath remodel. The Skylight shaft is accentuated with columns at each corner, an entablature, and indirect up-lighting hidden behind the cornice.

Playful Modern
This playful modern home was designed for a successful bachelor. To fit the steep natural terrain, the plan was flipped. Living spaces are located on the upper level while the bedrooms are placed on a lower level which is partially buried in to the side of the hill. This home features multiple levels of protruding decks, a roof top deck accessed from a loft within the clerestory Living Room, and wood details that express the building structure.

Urban Infill
This project restored a vacant lot in the Village of Wappinger Falls with appropriate housing. It consists of 8 rental units configured as 4 duplexes.

Beautiful Homes
The Beckwith Group has extensive experience with production homes; producing the required construction drawings for hundreds of residences while maintaining an excellent relationship with multiple developers.

The bonus room over the garage was converted to a Guest Suite. It includes a sitting area, bathroom and bedroom making it a perfect area for guest to have privacy and to feel unobtrusive while staying. The project also included a small bedroom addition which features a large bay window with a built-in window seat over the existing kitchen below. It is the quintessential girl’s bedroom.
